SUMMARY:1776
DESCRIPTION:What will it take to get two dozen powerfully passionate\, exceedingly complicated\, and all-too-human individuals to settle their differences\, while they hold the very future of a nation in their hands? \nThis Tony Award-winning Best Musical is tuneful\, witty\, and constantly surprising\, especially in this revolutionary new production from directors Jeffrey L. Page (Violet) and Diane Paulus (Waitress) with a cast that reflects multiple representations of race\, gender\, and ethnicity. You may never think about our country—who we are and why—the same way again. \nMusic and Lyrics by Sherman Edwards\nBook by Peter Stone\nBased on a Concept by Sherman Edwards\nDirected by Jeffrey L. Page and Diane Paulus\nChoreography by Jeffrey L. Page\nAmerican Repertory Theater at Harvard University/Roundabout Theatre Company’s new production

SUMMARY:Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I
DESCRIPTION:The King and I is one of the greatest musicals from the golden age of Broadway – adored by the public and critics alike – with one of the finest scores ever written including “I Whistle a Happy Tune\,” “Getting to Know You\,” and “Shall We Dance?” Set in the 1860s\, The King and I is based on the true story of Anna Leonowens\, a widowed schoolteacher from Wales who travels to Siam to teach the King’s many children. Her effect on the kingdom and the kingdom’s effect on her are the basis of this beautiful and classic musical. \nTimes: Thursdays at 7:30pm\, Fridays at 8pm\, Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm\, Sundays at 1:30pm & 6:30pm.

SUMMARY:Dance at The Music Center
DESCRIPTION:One of the most famous and dynamic dance ensembles in the world\, Paul Taylor Dance Company serves as the premier institution for American modern dance and is known for unparalleled artistry and expansive repertory. In a seminal piece of Americana\, and through the hit songs of the Andrews Sisters\, Company B juxtaposes the energy and enthusiasm of the country in the early 1940s with the human toll of a young nation drawn into World War II. The second piece will be a world premiere by Resident Choreographer Lauren Lovette\, former principal dancer with New York City Ballet\, set to the music of Michael Daugherty’s scintillating percussion concerto Dreamachine. Each performance will conclude with German choreographer Kurt Jooss’ The Green Table. Created between world wars\, this work is one of the most iconic and celebrated anti-war dances of all time. With timeless designs by Hein Heckroth and Hermann Mankard and music by Fritz Cohen\, The Green Table’s narrative is just as relevant\, and the drama just as searing\, as when it premiered 90 years ago. \n\n\nVenue\nDorothy Chandler Pavilion \nCompany B\, The Green Table\, and a world premiere by Resident Choreographer Lauren Lovette.
