Cinco de Mayo 2014 heats up on Monday in Los Angeles, but Tequila starts flowing through the weekend, while mariachi music takes L.A. revelers late into the night. Los Lobos Cinco de Mayo Festival
May 3. Los Lobos, the genre-bending band from East L.A. that meshes Latin sounds with traditional Spanish, blues and R&B, heads up their 3rd annual Cinco de Mayo Festival at the Greek Theatre. Grammy winners Ozomatli, and Mariachi El Bronx open. 2700 North Vermont Ave., L.A., 323.665.5857.

Lucha Vavoom
May 1-2. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a ridiculously fun performance featuring masked Mexican wrestlers, comedy, and burlesque acts all rolled into one wacky and entertaining evening. The show also features feature the U.S. debut of Guadalajara electro cumbia combo, Los Masters Plus. Also expect Aztec and folkloric dancers, tequila, tamales and a dance party. Tortilla Republic “Viva La Fiesta” Block Party
May 4. West Hollywood’s modern Mexican restaurant transforms the lot behind the West Hollywood Library and West Hollywood Park into a Cinco de Mayo celebration. Stop by for DJ tunes, multiple outdoor bars, a dance floor, a live mariachi band, $6 margaritas, Mexican small plates, a 50/50 raffle, and a VIP suite with bottle service. 2-10 p.m. 616 N. Loteria Grill
May 2-5. Celebrate the holiday over Loteria Grill’s festive Cinco+ Cinco + Cinco menu where you can sip the restaurants top five margaritas, favorite Mexican beers and five puebla tacos, including a new taco, the Chile de Nogada (Chile Poblano with a plantain and cheese filling, creamy walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds). Margaritas and beer range from $6-$14; tacos $3.25-$3.75 each. Available at Loteria Grills in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Studio City, Downtown Los Angeles, Farmer’s Market (alcohol excluded) and Westlake Village.

Gracias Madre
May 5. Get festive at West Hollywood’s new outpost for plant-based Mexican cuisine with all-day $5 drink and food specials on offerings like the Purista (tequila reposado, agave, lime, orange bitters, sweet orange salt rim), jalapeño basil ice, chips and guacamole, Totopos con chile (tortilla chips, salsa de arbol, cashew crema and lime) and more. Pink Taco
May 2-5. Celebrate the holiday all weekend long at both LA Pink Taco locations. In West Hollywood festivities kick off on May 2, with happy hour starting at 4 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy brunch and a Mexican fiesta on the patio including a taco stand, pitchers of margaritas and pitchers of Moscow mules, music, along with VIP Lounge service. The celebration will continue throughout the weekend with a Sunday Funday and end on Cinco de Mayo with a special happy hour starting at 4 p.m. In Century City, stop by for Friday happy hour, starting at 3 p.m., Saturday brunch and a Sunday Quatro de Mayo celebration from 2-11 p.m. with tacos, beer, margaritas and music by Kerry Wheeler, DJ Digital and DJ Vice; the party officially kicks off at 2 p.m., doors will be open at 11 a.m. with Bloody Marias and Micheladas. May 5. At the stylish steakhouse on La Cienega, you can fete the holiday by ordering up a “Mexican Ferris Wheel”, a circular shot holder and 10 tequila shots and a holder for lime and salt ($65/per wheel).
