Waypoint Public Joins North Park’s Eclectic Dining Scene

waypoint-publicFrom a trio of industry heavy-hitters, Waypoint Public is a neighborhood bistro serving up simple, seasonal dishes and exceptional beer.

In the former space of the Linkery, North Park’s most buzzed about new neighborhood beer bar and restaurant, Waypoint Public, is now open for dinner seven days a week. The brainchild of a trio of industry veterans— ELE Collective founder John Pani, Bottlecrafts’s Brian Jensen, and Top Chef alum Amanda Baumgarten—the casual bistro is serving up seasonal menus that highlight Latin, Asian and European influences along with more than 300 bottled craft beers and a custom 30-tap system stocked with West Coast brews. The debut menu includes such eclectic dishes as po’ boy tacos with fried oysters, fried green tomatoes, slow cooked pork belly and charred local octopus. Also a gifted butcher, Chef Baumgarten even offers a selection of house-made charcuterie. The casual and airy design retains the former Linkery’s signature retractable garage doors and includes a private event space, a children’s area where kids can watch vintage cartoons on a nearby projection screen and an expansive 45-foot art installation on the wall that incorporates inlayed mirrors, recycled wooden pallets and antique serving paraphernalia.
