Little Beast in Eagle Rock

Chef Sean Lowenthal the traded slick Hollywood scene for down-to-earth cuisine at his new Little Beast in Eagle Rock.

If you’re looking for culinary experiences in LA that don’t suck, the former Chateau Marmont sous chef and his wife Deborah Schwartz serve unfussy, rustic New American cuisine in a 1911 Craftsman bungalow with a romantically lit outdoor patio. Small plates include wild salmon tartare with sesame basil guacamole, salsa verde and gyoza crisps, and charred-canteloupe-and-arugula salad with pickled cucumber and canteloupe-mint vinaigrette. Larger entrees include English pea risotto with pecorino, sweet butter and pan-roasted Diver scallops with cauliflower puree. A notable selection on the dessert menu is the “fallen” apple pastry with dulce de leche and whipped cream, while the beverage menu offers wines by the glass, craft and draft beers and artisan sodas. 1496 Colorado Blvd., Eagle Rock, 323.341.5899. littlebeastrestaurant.com
