Jun 23.-Oct. 7. Throughout the history of rock music, photographers have played a collaborative and creative role. In Who Shot Rock & Roll—the first exhibit about rock ‘n’ roll that spotlights this partnership—you can view the work of more than 100 of these photographers. Check out rare images, such as Alfred Wertheimer’s series of photos of Elvis Presley playfully kissing a woman backstage before a performance, to portraits including Michael Lavine’s photo of Notorious B.I.G., visitors experience the history of the musical genre. Opens Jun. 24. Originally conceived by the artist in 1969, Levitated Mass is a 456-foot-long concrete slot, over which sits a 340-ton granite boulder. As visitors walk through the slot, the pathway descends to fifteen feet in depth, running underneath the boulder before ascending back up. While your there stop by Ray’s & Stark Bar for a special “Rocktail” in honor of the mass. Created by Barsmith Paul Sanguinetti, the “Rocktail” features Oro pisco acholado, fresh lemon juice, housemade chamomile syrup, Miracle Mile castillan bitters, egg white, and local bee pollen.
