California African American Museum

The mission of this institution is to research, collect, preserve and interpret for public enrichment the history, art and culture of African-Americans, with an emphasis on California and the western United States. The permanent collection includes works ranging from traditional African wood masks to modern and contemporary compositions by artists such as Noah Purifoy and Sargent Claude Johnson.
