This weekend you can see the “American Idol” of the Classical music world at the Fourth Annual Jose Iturbi International Music Competition, which will showcase the worlds greatest emerging talent. The two day competition held at UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall, consists of a Final Round for six pianists and a Final Round for six singers who have  been chosen by the Selection Committee. The vocal finals encompass opera arias, art song, Gershwin and Porter songs and selections from Musical Theater and the piano encompass pieces by George Gershwin, Spanish composers and famous encore pieces. A total of over $100,000 in Cash Prizes will be awarded to finalists.

The Piano Judges are: Daniel Pollack (Chairman of the Piano Jury), Jorge Mester, Lalo Schifrin, Mark Swed, and Ilana Vered. The Voice Judges are: Matthew Epstein (Chairman of the Voice Jury), David Daniels, Marilyn Horne, Peter Kazaras, and Carol Vaness. The accompanist for the singers is Martin Katz.

Vocal Finals are Friday at 7 p.m.

Piano Finals are Saturday at 7 p.m.
